those dearest to us isn't it? Please know I think you are an amazing swordsmith &

Michael Adamson Photo's can get lost or fade. You have some lovely memories.
Perhaps, in time, on remembering, you might be able to fill in a few spaces, but even
if you are unable, you have some very nice memories.
Rosemary Craven I remember that time John, it was very sad, I remember you all at
your Gran's. Porthleven at that time, unlike now, was mainly populated by
Porthleveners who all knew one another, had known each other's families through
generations and looked out for each other. When tragedy struck one family all the
others would rally around giving practical help and support.
My father's allotment was at highburrow (is that how you spell it?) He rented it from
Penrose Estate, and grew vegetables and kept chickens there. Joe Andy had the next
allotment and he kept pigs on his, I remember the smell of the pig food boiling up!
We were always told to watch out for adders but I don't think I saw any there. Like
you, I was always getting stung by nettles.
I love your stories John, although this one is very sad, they remind me so much of my
own childhood. xx
Rachel Dolton Thank you for sharing your memories, very warm and moving.

Richard Barrett Puts me in mind of the wisdom in the final two lines of "Bookends", a
short and simple acoustic song from Simon & Garfunkel in 1968 - Time it was, And
what a time it was. It was . . .A time of innocence. A time of confidences. Long ago . .
. it must be . . . I have a photograph. Preserve your memories. They’re all that’s left
you. A fitting backing track for John Allens work I think.
